I live alone, there are never left overs that aren't used in one way or another

I usually leave it in the fridge until the food is not etable and with a clear conscience through it out. done

If it's not unhealthy, too sweet or fatty or salty, I will give it to the dog or feed it to the wildlife outside. If it's not good for them and it will work, I will put it in the compost pile. If it's yucky which is rare, I'll tie it up and into the trash it goes.

Toss them. I have no other pet and no compost where I live.
