Should they? Certainly. Will they? Pfft, not in a million years.

they'll have no choice if it happens or not since the eye of the world will be on Beijing. Personally I hope the common folk of China use this sporting event as a stage for their protests in order to brighten the future of the average Chinese citizen and bring awareness to the plights that beset their great nation. Namely, the ecological problems they face since this is the most imminent threat that that they all face.

Should they? Probably, but, you know it will not happen. Tien-an-Mien Square began as a non-violent protest, until the gov brought in the police, the army, and the tanks....

The real question is this: When a non-violent protest happens during the Olympics, how will they react? I say they will just let it happen and wait until the cameras go away and punish the families of the protesters.

The last non-violent protest I remember in China was big news when the government called out the troops and the tanks to squash it. They are pretty heavy handed when the entire world is watching. I don't think the Olympics is going to change that.

Good question. No protests are for political arenas not sporting ones. The athletes worked hard to get where they are. It would not be fair to them to have to deal with this.

Since I am a "fan" of the political democracy, my opinion is: Yes.
