  • Enthusiasm, knowledge and a love of teaching.
  • They need to like the age group that they are teaching and also to actually be good at teaching. I've seen many a college professor that hates college kids and while very knowledgeable in their respective field, that means nothing if they suck at teaching.
  • Lots of love and compassion for your students and the ability to discern when your students need a little extra attention, a little extra help, or a little extra push. The wisdom and insight to look beyond what the children are saying and see what they are capable of or what special circumstances they have.
  • Sanity, reason, the ability to admit when they are wrong, hope in the future of our country, the ability to see a situation through other's eyes, compassion, enthusiasim, patients and OF COURSE lots of Asprin! Good Luck!
  • you've gotta listen and react. there are so many approaches to doing it right, but good teaching always starts with an actively learning teacher. knowing your shit when it comes to the subject matter is also a big help.
