Is it only me that wonders why some people ask questions rather than simply going to Google or Wikipedia?

No others have wondered as well. so it isn't just you. many questions here are asking for opinionated answers which Google does not have. Those seeking educated answers only use this place as a second or third source for information. You can bet that they do not just ask here for answers they are honestly looking for. also keep in mind that here you get a wide range of answers and the opportunity to participate with people which could turn into a friendship which you can not do with non-personal sources.

Its not just you, that wonders about this. I look at it as if maybe some of us just want many different points of view. Meaning more that just a few answers. Kind of like going to a Doctor & being told that there is something wrong with you. And you need to do or go or have etc:.....Even tho you trust you Doctor. There's no harm in getting a few more Doctors points of view first.

Some do it because they are genuinely looking for information as its difficult for them to assimilate all the stuff on the net at times BUT most of the times I think its just for Points.

Sometimes the questions ask for opinions, that they might see things from a different perspective. Also, its hard to try and sort the pros and cons of certain decisions by yourself, and having a forum for people to toss ideas back and forth is a bit more thought inducing.

I think most are looking for opinions rather than facts. Fact's can be boring. While opinions causes one to think. Or!!!! NOT!!

This is a ask a question website. People are supposed to respond with an answer and give plus points in the process. Therefore for the most part, people ask questions to get points. Each question has to be unique and different than any other question, otherwise it will be labeled a duplicate. It is important to understand that, so when people ask questions about suicide, they usually are after points and are not really considering suicide. It is important to not get personally involved with the question as one will miss the whole point of the question. I ask for opinions and help many times. Ask controversial questions and you will have many answers.
