  • I hope you get a better answer, but I had same prob with 37" Hyundai early this year and had to have a replacement (it was brand new) as it was irreparable
  • Did you ever get an answer for this one? I have the same problem and been advised that it may be that the plasma cannot cope with the signal. Have yet to try it yet. I have been advised to lower the resolution from 1080 to 720.
  • Had the same problem... twice. First time I just turned the TV off from the button (power off), and then on again after 1 min and it worked. Second time I tried the same to no effect. But after letting it with the power off for approx 30 mins, it came back :)
  • This is a very common problem with Phillips, Magnavox and Samsung. Unfortunately you will get no help, or expensive help from the customer service centers. I have a 50" plasma Magnavox, assembled in Mexico with phillips and samsung parts. Mine had 2 blown capacitors. I'm not sure if your 42" will have 1 or 2. Carefully lay your tv face down and remove the back. You'll see a green board with cables running to it it may be near the center of your tv. The capacitors are black, about an inch and a half tall with silver tops. The tops have an X on them. If they are good the tops will be flat. If they have blown, the tops will be raised up and rounded. You can see and feel them. The problem is they were too low a voltage. Mine were marked 3300UF 12V. The 12volt is the problem. They can be replaced with 3300UF 16V. Like I said, I don't know the part number for your 42". But capacitors are about $5 a piece. I live in a small town so I could't find the part, but I took the board to an honest TV repair guy and he replaced the capacitors for $30. I put the board back in and the TV works great. Don't let yourself get ripped off.
