Not sure about the word 'lasting', but just because your government's corrupted by the private sector and is screwing up your country (not to mention as much of the world it can get its hands on), doesn't mean there aren't some decent governments out there. Look at Zapatero's Spain, or Morales's Bolivia, or Halonen's Finland.
