Of course I would let him in. Just because he does manual labor for a living, doesn't make him a criminal or second class citizen. He still deserves basic sanitation. I have been in construction for 28 years, and have never stolen anything from a client. Actually, in some jurisdictions, you may be REQUIRED to provide sanitation for construction personnel on your project. If you really feel uncomfortable about letting him in, consider a daily rental of a port-a-potty as a courtesy to the workers you employ.

A woman in my community got murdered in April of 2005 when she let a guy who was power washing her deck inside her home. If you are going to have people working on your home, invite a friend or neighbor over to keep you company. If there are two people, makes it a little bit harder for them to pull any funny stuff on you.
