  • I guess an opposum!
  • the strangest animal would be a tasmanian devil they dont look like they have a pouch but they do
  • I stepped out my front door once, and was eye to eye with a buffalo. It smashed the fence at the farm a few miles away, and somehow made it all the way to my house.
  • We found a red earred slider turtle on our front lawn once. Which was weird, because those are fresh water turtles. No clue how it got there. We kept it and built a pond for it in our backyard.
  • We've got so many critters here. I guess the one we see the least would be a mink that comes in the wintertime, hunting in our brush piles.
  • My mother-in-law bent over gardening!!!
  • Snapping turtles, deer, and turkey...they are lawn killers when they're scratching for grub. Arg!
  • My kid..
  • i saw a fox once in my yard, very rare here where I live.
  • We get all kinds of critters and harrass the crap out of them by intensely studying each and every one. My least favorites are the newts. Extremely sticky and hard to remove the film from little hands!!!
  • there was vulture eating my trash once. it was gross.
  • A goat (in the suburbs, mind you).
  • A family of minks. They can be vicious and bite.
  • A crab on two occasions
  • Stray dog. I loved him and wanted him. But my parents made sure he went home.
  • we live in the foothills of the Sierras in California and we have 5 acres of heavily wooded land and a home and our wierdest and freakiest was a mountain lion, more than once. I would call to it, like it howled and it would howl yowl whatever back and we would go back and forth until my wife would freak and make me stop and come inside. He kept getting closer each time. Also a family of opossums hanging in a tree outside my home. Also just two more, sorry, but raccoons come onto our deck and each the cats food, they walk right by the cats...and we have had a skunk several times over the year. Not lately though thank God.
  • i'd have to go with a possom...that was just weird...
  • Well, these aren't weird, but I have possum, skunks, chipmunks, field mice, rabbits, squirrels, red foxes, and amongst the various birds, I get these incredibly red cardinals on a regular basis... but the one that is weird is a very large (4' high) wild turkey that seems to like to cut through my yard in particular for some reason... my neighbors were all excited last year when they spotted him standing in the road in front of my house for a few minutes, then someone spooked him and he took off like a shot back through my yard again...

  • I came home around 2am after moonlight bowling once and saw a coyote in my neighbor's front lawn. We live in a decently sized town too
  • A bobcat standing in my driveway when i came home late one night.
  • Come to think of it, I have seen fire and I have seen rain, but also rabbits, frogs, opossums, and even a snake or two.
  • We have skunks, possums, and wild turkey's a lot, but the weirdest was an escaped Emu from a farm nearby.
  • A wild parrot, who said "Dirty Bird."
  • A huge snapping turtle. No kidding. I was leaving for work early one morning and it was still pretty dark out and I had to stop because I was about to hit an armadillo. Wait? What? In the country? No. I got out and looked closer and it was a HUGE turtle. Freaked me out.
  • I love alligator snapping turtles. What did you do and where do you think it came from? I wouldn't consider this weird but one of the neatest animals I've ever seen in my yard is a large, richly green beetle with a gold thorax. When I was in Canada I was just a kid so I could be wrong but it seems that I once saw a ladybird beetle that was as big as a half-golf ball. I saw some white water bugs in New Delhi, India that were about 3" long and about 2" wide. Also while I was there I was attacked by a cobra. I encountered a bear when we were camping in Little Yosemite Valley. I think the weirdest creature I've ever seen is the Australian (where else? ;)) sand worm:
  • Peacock. Happend when I was a kid. We chased it to the end of the coldasack so it wouldn't get away till the animal control showed up.
  • A massive headless rat - i think my cat brought me a 'pressie then decided she was hungry :)
