I like to go first thng and snatch up all the 78 rpm records that I can find. When I can afford it, of course.

I'm terrible at price-negotiation anyway, so I would rather have a good selection earlier in the day. I rely more on the owner marking things down on the last day. Of course, I don't go TOO early, sometimes it's awkward being the only one perusing.

It depends on if I'm looking for a specific item. When I needed a baby gate, I had to go early, because everybody wants those. If I was just looking for any 'bargain' and not something specific, I would go late. I hardly ever buy anything anymore. I get most of my stuff free from http://www.freecycle.org/

I always look for what I think is cheap and if it is I get it. If I find one cheaper later on, I'll resell the first in my own sale for the same amount or more. But negotiating is a must...or at least try.

I usually don't plan on going, I just see some as I drive around doing my normal life stuff. If something catches my attention, I'll stop. The one time we knew there was a yard sale that was supposed to have Star Wars collectibles, we actually planned on being there early. With three kids to get ready, that didn't work out too well. lol We did get there around 9 or so and most of the stuff we would have been interested in was already gone, so I guess if you want specific items, early is good. But I generally like a deal too...
