Omega-3 chain fatty acids are the same compound in nuts and in seeds. The difference in the seeds is from the ratio of Omega-3's to Omega-6's (another essential fatty acid that has a completementary effect on the immune system - ie where omega-3 dampen inflammatory response, omega 6's effect other immune responses). Different fish species and different nut species all have different ratios. Too many to list here. All omega-3's are good for your heart - but do not eat deep sea fish more than twice a week becuase of heavy metal contamination - and too many omega-3's can thin the blood too much. All things in moderation is the key. I am not sure about the mood effect to which you are referring. Happy eating!
