  • To remove your mother's name from the title would be fairly easy - you would have a deed (in some states a quit claim deed) and the BOTH of you would deed it to just you. As far as the tax consequences, that would depend on where you live and how you currently hold title. There are different ways to hold title: as joint tenants, as tenants in common, etc. Was the house originally your mother's, then transferred to the both of you? Because that would make a difference.
