My youngest daughter had to have her removed when she was 1 year 11 months. They were so huge (although not inflamed/infected) that they caused sleep apnea when she slept on her front side or back. They were also so huge that when she ate she could not swallow foods comfortably her weight was steady ay 25 lbs. The dangers of the enlarged tonsils was worth the risk to have them removed before the lack of oxygen caused other problems.

They certainly wouldn't have to worry about ever getting tonsilitis either I should imagine.
