"Foie Gras" is it cruel and inhumane? or just another reality of life in the food chain?

Cruel but so is the way most animals are treated when they are raised for food. I still eat it from time to time, though. It's just so damn good...

I think its inhumane. Animals, I believe, were put on this earth to be eaten , but within moderation (as well as humane treatment). There are ways to eat an animal without putting the animal through too much pain and to do that you have to treat it as if it were you. Alot of methods that are used I find unnecessary and most importntly cruel.

What am I missing here? I thought that using as much of an animal as possible was a good thing. Are the birds held in cages or something?
