Why are people still racist? When will we learn to accept everyone for who they are and not by the color of their skin?

lack of knowledge. Not being open minded. Also being taught to hate as a child has alot to do with it. It's sad. I think if your black, white, purple, brown, green we all have feeling and and we are all people. I have no problem with race.

May be based on regional bigotry, family attitudes, personal ignorance or a combination of the above.

People are racist because they actually believe they have justification for hatred of an entire race based off of the actions of a very few people within a race. And we will never learn to accept each other until the misplace hatred 2pac spoke of is put in the right place or pushed a side. So basically we probablly will never see an end to racism even if Barck Obama Jr. Jr. Jr. becomes the nations 100th black President. Because it is what some people believe they have to be.

I tend to believe family passes on their beliefs either knowinly or not. Thus the cycle is never broken.

Because they don't have an open view to everything or anyone. They want to believe in what they were told and not find out for themselves. It's sad that even today people still have to be trapped in a society today that still has racism. If we could just start to try to understand and *see in a children's eyes* then maybe we could fix this problem. Even then that would be hard to get to.

I think some people are racist when thinking about an entire race, but once they meet someone from that race, they are not longer racist on an individual basis. They may dislike the person for some reason and then attribute it to their ethnicity.

Why are people still racist? Well some people are told by very respected members of society that a group of people are evil. The people listen and then they discriminate. People like the Jews have been discriminated for the past 5,000 years. Massacres and persecutions were normal for these people all because one mob of Jewish people demanded the death of Jesus because they saw him as a threat to the Jewish hirechy at the time. The saints then condemned all the Jews for something a small group had done, the pharisees. You see how something so small can get out of control. The holocaust, they were blamed for the black death, death of Jesus, called little devils, considered to be power hungry etc.
