It is. Here in Québec they don't celebrate it though, but everything is still closed. It's moving day instead. I miss Manitoba where there always were festivals during Canada Day. Major streets would be closed off and people would have shows, games and everything in the streets, it was great, and it lasted for like three days.

Yeah but here in Québec as Sym stated they don`t really celebrate it. I just saw on the news there is some sort of parade downtown but I am skeptical about that.

Why yes it is, FI. July 1 commemorates the day that Canada was officially considered a separate kingdom (July 1, 1867) but was kept under limited control by the British parliament until 1982 (not quite a Canadian Independence Day). And it's also the day that Estee Lauder and Princess Diana were born (different years, of course).
