We have a heptagon as one of our winning logo images because seven is the lucky winning number in some traditional games of chance. We like the septilateral shape and, just for fun, have gone heptamerous in our design. Win one of our main prizes and you will be in seventh heaven!

Why is seven lucky? We are not entirely certain - but we did find many special sevens : from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World ... to seven days of the week.

    Seven more sevens:
Pythagoreans called it the perfect number, 3 and 4, the triangle and the square, the perfect figures.

Seven ancient planets - the sun was the greatest planet of the ancient seven and next to the sun, the moon, changing in all its splendour every seventh day. Seven visible planets and luminaries (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn).

Books ...The Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T E Lawrence, Enid Blyton's Secret Seven series ... Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People ... Reiki and the Seven Chakras ...

    Seven Deadly Sins.

The Trumpton fire brigade. (Pugh, Pugh, Barney, Magrew, Cuthburt, Dibble and Grub)

    Seven Seas

In Chinese culture, the seventh day of the first moon of the lunar year is known as Human's Day to be celebrated as the universal birthday of all human beings.

Number seven, a very cabalistic and used number thru history, is considered lucky among other reasons for being the number of perfection.

God, the Bible says, created the Universe in 7 days. Thus 6 is the imperfect number, this is why 666 is the number of Satan or the Beast.

On dices, where seven is a winning number, to get a 7 you need one dice on 6 and a 1 on the opposite side on the other dice. All opposite side numbers adds to 7.

This is only an additional contribution to the answer by Flizzera, which nicely answered this question.

it includes the combination of three and four.

We can go on and on about three. In all the manifestations of 3 we find the condition of dynamic balance. The configuration of three always suggests movement from one aspect to the other, while remaining fixed. This phenomena can be seen, and often is described as the essense of life itself or soul.

The number four is linked in several cultures, in the maps we create and the way we parcel land in the western world, to the 4 directions, or 'Winds'. North, South, East, and West. The directions contain an elemental life beyond their identity on a compass. While the understanding or interpretation of the qualities associated with each direction change slightly from one culture or place to another fundemental pattern exists.

The directions contain qualities of :

    >youth/spring/beginning/daylight/East

    >maiden/young man/summer/fertility/warmth/South

    >adult/mature/fall/setting sun/hibernation/introspection/West

    >elder/wisdom/winter/perseverence/strength/clarity/North

animals, gods and godesses, stories, songs...all the things of culture travel on the wheel in which the four directions turn.

The combination of 3 and 4 to make seven is so very lucky because it combines all that fills our soul with all we find in life. This is what I finally decided one day. For me, it works.

The number 7 is sacred amongst Islamic, Christian and Jewish religions. According to Jewish and Christian mythologies it took six days to create the world with the seventh day being the holiest day - a day of rest. The Bible, Zohar and other religious texts also recommend that fields were to be left fallow every seventh year as means of allowing the earth to regenerate itself. Some Christians believe the number 7 represents the seven levels of hell.

It is Hebrew tradition to mourn, or sit Shivah, for a period of 7 days.

Deities associated with the number 7 include Frigga; Minerva, the Roman Goddess of Intelligence and Wisdom and Mithras the Sun God in Zoroastrian lore. The number 7 is associated with the colors violet, purple and plum. 7's gemstone is amethyst.

Flowers associated with 7 are irises and deep purple roses.

Some common superstitions about the number 7 are: If your date of birth can be reduced to a single number that can be divided by seven then you will have a particularly lucky life.

Shattering a mirror brings 7 years of bad luck.

If you sing before 7 am then you will cry before 11 am.
Wrapping her husband's belt 7 times around a tree causes a woman to become fertile.

The seventh child of a seventh child is said to have psychic powers.
If you wash your hair on the 7th day of the month you will have trouble with the law.

It is unlucky to get married April 7th or December 7th.

If you dream about the number 7, you will soon meet a soul mate.

On dices, where seven is a winning number, to get a 7 you need one dice on 6 and a 1 on the opposite side on the other dice. All opposite side numbers adds to 7.

Superstition. 7 seas, 7 wonders, 7 days in a week, I guess it's because it's common. Fun fact about my full name though, all three names count 7.
