Was the number seven like "lucky" number before or after slot machines were invented? If it was before slot machines, why was it considered lucky?

7 is considered lucky or unlucky as it were because of the game craps. The odds of rolling a 7 are higher than rolling anything else with two dice.

it goes all the way back to ancient Greece where they thought there was only 7 planets (I dont know if the considered the moon a planet, I cant imagine they could have spottet Uranus), so 7 was considered a special, magical number
