  • german's not the most difficult language to learn. there are a lot of similarities to english, but there are some differences. you can take it into translation or teaching, but you can work for companies all over the world if you speak german. i guess you could also teach all over the world, or live in germany and do whatever you want. its an awesome language.
  • its not difficult if you already know several other european languages. it is still difficult. the word spelling alone is difficult. still if you are interested you should pursue it online. there are many free german language websites. you could work in a radio station, or on a cruise line, or at an embassey, or at the united nations, or even go to germany and be a tour guide.
  • As a native speaker of German, I cannot say much about that. From what I hear, it is considered a fairly difficult language to learn, mostly because it has so many exceptions from the rules (which in themselves are not always logical). A very entertaining essay was written by Mark Twain about the "terrible German language". It is available online, I think. Nevertheless, I would encourage anyone to learn German, because it is a beautiful language, and a lot of great literature and philosophy has been written in German. You might want to get in touch with a Goethe Institute. There is an international network of these all over the world, and they offer good language courses - and job opportunities if you know German. Against Japanese, I would think that learning German is easy. Just do it!
  • I would clearly suggest any other language. Perhaps French or Spanish. German is a rather useless and very difficult language for foreigners. Most of them give up.
  • If you speak reasonable German there is no problem at all to find a qualified job in Germany. I know many foreigners who work in very high qualified jobs in Germany and Germasn usually do not look at all at your nationality or your origin but they look much more at your skills and your ability for team-work which is extremely important in Germany everywhere. Germans like to be team-players.
