LOTR. Kept its faith for the book & the author. Matrix was great but its sequels sucked.

I had the version of Lord of the Rings in my head and so had to change my idea on how certain characters looked in my head vs the screen. The Matrix, I knew nothing about and so I enjoyed the story.Freely with no preconcieved notions.

I'd go with "Lord of the Rings" -- it's far more consistent in terms of quality and entertainment value, and doesn't piss away all the coolness during the 3rd act.

LOTR - The Matrix was excellent but the sequels are (IMO) the worst follow ups in movie history. Espcially Reloaded which is the only film I have ever fallen asleep to in the cinema.
