  • Hillbillies....hahaha I know what your talking about! As far as moving, I use to live up north and now I too am in Tennessee, people up north are much different I don't think you'll have too many problems with hunters, IF you do notice alot of deer in your area the best thing to not have them come around and try to scare them is and it's gross but human urine or they sell stuff that will scare the deer away. Besides not too many parts of Wisconsin are too much in the boonies! Good Luck if you do move!
  • Stay out of the woods, when you here gunfire Dont wear a white shirt with a brown jacket
  • I've lived with hunters for many years. Right now I live right next door to the state woods and we just don't have a problem. ON opening day of deer season, we don't go for long walks in the woods, but other than that, it's just not an issue. Relax, enjoy, don't be so quick to judge people falsely.
  • If you're going to be in the Southern part, you're fine. The scary deer hunter people are mainly up north. When people go deer hunting, they usually go up north to do so. I'm originally from central/southern Wisconsin and grew up in a small town. However, I grew up in the city part so I didn't have to deal with scary farmer/deer hunter people very often. If you're going to be in a city, it won't be too bad. Also, if you're going to be in the southern part, you'll be close to Chicago and that's a great city to visit. Also, 6 Flags Great America theme park is just over the border in Illinois.
  • Buy a hunter orange vest/jacket and cap. Wear these in deer season. You won't find many hillbillies but some deer hunters. Most of the hunting in WI is probably in the North of the State.
  • Okay so the deer hunter thing was mostly silliness, you know. :P Just jokin' around.
  • if you're a hiker or the out doorsy type, just wear blaze orange during during hunting season while in the woods or stay out of the woods all together. i hike all the time and just have on orange and have never had any problems. i usually never even see hunters where i hike, i guess they don't like the area or something ;) if it's going to be near madison there's a million things to do. start on state street, just walking around. there's museums downtown, the wisconsin dells are close by for huge fun in the summer. house on the rock is great. dr. evermores is a really weird place to see. here's a great idea for some really off the wall stuff to do and see, get a book called "weird wisconsin". it'll keep you busy for months or even years ;)
  • The small towns around Madison are great places to live. Especially south of Madison. As for the deer hunters, I live next to a large (4000 acres) public area that is hunted. I've had no problems with them and know a good number of them. Not scary at all. Wisconsin for the most part has a well educated population. Their schools are second to none.
  • Hunters don't shoot blindly at everything that moves, don't worry about that. If you are used to Tennessee weather, prepare to freeze your buns off in the winter. Trust me, you don't yet know the meaning of the word "cold"!
  • Eat cheese, milk cows and drink beer (not necessarily in that order)
  • Scary deer-hunters? Your attitude towards other people is a bit disgusting. The closer you are to Chicago the closer you are to the crime. I would move further north, closer to the well mannered, kind and wise 'hillbillies'. None of them are aiming to harm you in any way, what is scary about that? I don't know.
