  • Carly nailed it, "You're So Vane,..I bet you think this song is about you"...(smile). I am not sure so many people are all that more vane than they ever were. It just seems that "lookism" is pushed at us more these days by fashion, the media, etc. "If you aren't this beautiful, you will never find happiness"....Well, I am anything but beautiful and I have had much happiness and continue to have.
  • I know what you mean. The guys that spend forever gettin hot and know they look good completely turn me off. I haven't understood it myself, but everyone wants to look like a movie star, it seems. And don't they aim to look like Barbie? I find plastic surgery to be a waste of time and money. It wears off anyway, so you'd have to redo it. Honestly, what's the point?
  • vanity is only natural some go over board with it but almost all social animals groom and often too it shows your healthy and the more physically attractive you are the better your genes are supposed to be
  • Well, this is just the way I am, take it or leave it. People are different. Life would be too boring if everyone would wear the same uniform. I like myself this way. If you prefer your own - fine with me - I'm happy to deal with anybody as long as they are clean, cute and cooperative)))).
  • A complicated subject. I think the media has a lot to do with it and it's protrayal of 'beauty'. Impossible ideals that no healthy person can attain. I think that many people fall victim to the hype that everything depends on how beautiful you are (and some studies do point to that--that more attractive people get better jobs etc),,,But the real fault I think lies in our insecurities of ourselves: that we can NEVER measure up to those ads that we see on TV and all around (we are bombarded with them!!) on a daily, if not hourly, basis. So we become obssessed with trying to look better....I think what I dislike about them is that they have no true inner beauty,,,external looks will only carry you so far. It is nice to have someone with a beautiful soul and not necessarily a beautiful b0dy.[and someone who is not totally self obsessed!!}.
  • I shall let you in on a secret, Nelson...women like to have men look at them. Men look at pretty/beautiful women. So, if you guys would stop oogling the babes, we'd stop trying to look like them! :)
