  • Why not? There is nothing in the rules that says you have to give positive or negative points for any question or answer. You can also ration your points to as many as you want to give or take away (up to the maximums for your current level). You might find that folks react negatively to getting - points for just giving their opinion to your question. Most feel if you ask for an opinion, you shouldn't minus if it doesn't agree with yours. Just a suggestion.
  • Fair? No. Points indicate that you appreciate the helpfulness of your exchange with another user. The points system may be heavily corrupt in many ways, but it is in place to acknowledge the helpful exchange of questions and answers. I do not even embark on new Q+A before I rate and acknowledge what is already in my feedback.

  • If you wanted to, sometimes people get sick of those who ask multiple questions but don't offer points, ever. I do it out of habit.
