  • There are some who just don't want to get hurt.
  • stupidity?
  • Because the person they are looking to be with just does not exist in reality and they cannot or will not allow themselves to move on from their image of a perfect partner.
  • Perhaps they find their carreer to be a lot more important than a family life (which I guess would fall under 'simply wanting to'). Others may just not have the social skills required to meet the right person, or they may just be anti-social, both of which may not directly be a choice of their own, but may be influenced by outside factors.
  • My boss is 45 and she was married for about 12 years with no kids, and got a divorce because of physical abuse. Since I've known her she says she wants to find someone, but she's not really looking. She's been single for about 13 years and I don't think she's ever going to get married. She focuses too much on taking care of other people in her family than finding her own happiness and life, in my opinion. I think a part of her just doesn't want to get hurt and a part of her thinks that Prince Charming is gonna come sweep her off her feet and take her away to a far away land...
  • They may be disfigured, or think they are, and feel no-one would be interested.
