Does coffee grounds really tone down the smell of decomposition? My snake just puked up her rat & the smell is KILLING me.

You could try it. Also, I would recommend spraying some Lysol if you have it.

If you've removed the dead rat and the smell is still present, you probably should give the snake's enclosure a thorough cleaning. Light some candles in the area to help you deal in the meantime. Good luck with that.

Assuming you've removed the dead rat already and cleaned the spot, I'd say the quickest thing would be to light a candle or 2. Coffee will help, but not as quickly and doesn't actually burn away the gases emitted by the rat puke.

My dad was in the used car business and he said that coffee grounds got rid of almost any smell in a car.
