  • They seem to be real. There are two ladies at my work who are celiac (I hope I spelt that correctly), and they claim they had terrible problems prior to cutting wheat out of their diet. This is where I'll get shot down. I believe that part of the problem is that we are all too clean these days. When I was young I would go and play at our local dump. It was great. We would use our imaginations and whatever we found to have the most amazing adventures. Along the way we scraped and cut and bruised ourselves (inviting tetanus at every turn) and would pick up sweeties we dropped, dust them off, and replace them into our mouth (too expensive to just throw away). Added to the natural protection of breast milk as a baby, this introduction to the grime and disease of the world actually seems to have helped. I wouldn't say I am so healthy I never catch a cold, but I haven't come across any allergies that debilitate me. Of course it may be genetic, but I like to think that a little bit of dirt is not as harmful as some parents nowadays believe.
  • The mind is a powerful thing. When you -think- you are 'ill', your body responds to it by 'getting' 'ill'.. (Argh, I can't put it any other way. My English is not that great.. sigh.)
