  • we had an interstate adoption, so we needed an attorney in our state of origin and in the state in which our child was born, we needed a social worker in both states. we used frequent flyer miles to purchase round-trip airline tickets to pick up our child. we had to stay in the state of birth for three weeks. after the adoption report and 6 months' wait, we went to court and a very kind hearted judge decreed us the parents. total cost, $10,000. total value, PRICELESS!!!
  • Our adoption was through our Church’s Family Services, which bases its prices on the adoptive family’s net income. Beyond that, we had to buy plane tickets, pay for hotel rooms in California (where our daughter’s birthmother lived), buy food while we were there, and of course, pay an attorney for finalization. All told, I think we paid around $6,700. Just wondering what others’ experience was!
  • We adopted from China. Each adoption cost roughly fifteen-eighteen thousand dollars. It is VITAL that you use a REPUTABLE agency - their are a lot of rip-offs out there.
  • I didnt pay anything. When my brother died He had named me as the godparent of his son, so all I had to do was sign a paper saying that I was legally the guardian.
