How to change cabin air filter in toyota highlander 2003?

    Having worried a lot about breaking something, I've managed to change the filter. It was extremely dirty. The directions in the 'Owners Manual' were very inadequate. First, "removing the 'clip'". It takes more than a 'phillips-head' screwdriver. The 'clip' screw doesn't 'unscrew'. It's one of those plastic screws that goes in easily, but doesn't want to come out. Don't know what the 'clip' does anyway.
    Second, disconnecting the 'claws' doesn't allow the the glove compartment to be removed unless PREVIOUSLY the 2 hinge pins on the bottom have been removed by applying pressure (they'll go back in using pressure in the other direction). As for the 'lanyard' attaching the 'clip' to the back of the glove compartment door, if care is used, it doesn't have to be un-attached.
    From here on, replacement is 'put it back the same way it was taken out.'

    Open your glove box, there is a small plastic panel on the back side of the glove box that comes off. When it comes off you'll see the filter itself.
