My dog, who is almost 15 now, is having an intermitent problem with his back left leg... It almost seems like his leg is asleep when he gets up from a nap or off the couch... he taps it and is hesitant to put weight on it, after a few min's it subsid

    I agree. Sounds like arthritis or hip dysplasia.

    It might be arthritis, which can plague older dogs and first manifests itself a stiffness before it gives the dog a lot of pain.

    Take your pet to the vet; there is medication and other treatment available.
