Differences between hydrophytes and xerophytes

    Hydrophytes are aquatic plants and share several survival characteristics that include a thin (or no) cuticle. Stomata that are open most of time, An increased number of stomata, that can be on either side of leaves.
    A less rigid structure (water pressure supports them.) Large flat leaves on surface plants for flotation. Air sacs for flotation. Smaller Feathery roots.

    Xerophytes are dry or arid surviving plants that typically have a fleshy, waxy cuticle, deep root systems, suken stomata that open only at night and have thick succulent stems that sote water.
