  • Up until yesterday, I was sure that AGW was just so much political hot air. But the data does look like there's a real connection between CO2 and the current heat spike. But I still have a very hard time accepting that 0.0037% of ANYTHING in the air can make that kind of difference. Nevertheless, it makes sense to stop using fossil fuels, and since that's the apparent 'cure', I have no objection. Now about that nonsense Kyoto treaty that allows China to pollute as much as they like...
  • It's a fact. Just look at the lose of glaciers. In actuality we can go into a real hot stage that triggers a new ice age. If the salt water gets desalinated by these meltdowns it could shut down the Atlantic conveyer and other currents. http://www.noc.soton.ac.uk/rapid/sis/atlantic_conveyor.php http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2004/05mar_arctic.htm
  • well, global warming is occurring, no doubt about that. where the big debate comes in is what the cause is and who or what is at fault and can there be anything done to stop or slow it down. one thing all can agree on is that there is a natural fluctuation of warm and cold periods that the earth gos through. now, the million dollar question! are we causing the current warming trend? personally i don't think so. i think we have sped it up, but it's a natural occurrence for the most part. does that mean i think we should do nothing? definitely not! we still need to do all we can to provide everybody with clean air, water and soil and the things we're doing aren't helping at all. they're both speeding up an already natural occurrence and poisoning ourselves.
