  • They are all considered to be "Abrahamic Religions". Of the three groups however, only Muslims believe these religions are related, believing Christianity and Judaism are alterations of their faith, even though their religion began after the other two (600 years after Christianity specifically, with Judaism preceding that). Judaism is the religion of the Jews, based on principles and ethics embodied in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh), as further explored and explained in the Talmud. The Talmud is a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, customs, and history. It is a central text of Rabbinic Judaism, second only to the Hebrew Bible in importance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talmud In Christianity, The disciples were first called Christians, meaning "followers of Christ", in Antioch. Ignatius of Antioch was the first Christian to use the label in self-reference. The earliest recorded use of the term Christianity was also by Ignatius of Antioch, around AD 100. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion originating with the teachings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, a seventh century Arab religious and political figure. The word Islam means "submission", or the total surrender of oneself to God. An adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim, meaning "one who submits [to God]". There are between 1 billion to 1.8 billion Muslims, making Islam the second-largest religion in the world, after Christianity. Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, God's final prophet, and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam. They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Jews and Christians distorted the revelations God gave to these prophets by either altering the text, introducing a false interpretation, or both. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad
  • Moses gave the law to the Jews, the Muslims(Islam) recognize that as the first revelation, and Abraham and Ismail founded Islam(according to Muslims) and Christianity comes from Moses and later the Tribes of Israel(Jesus is a descendant of David, King of Israel), so that is how they are connected. A difference between Islam and Christianism is that muslims see Jesus as another prophet instead of seeing him as the son of God.
  • In Abraham. The Muslims call him Ebrahim or Ibrahim. They all worship the god of Abraham (Abraham's god). Abraham had two sons from different mothers. Isaac from his wife and Ishmael from his wife's servant. Muslims claim descent from Ishmael. Jesus was born into Judaism and was the founder of Christianity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham
  • 1) "Islam is the second largest religion in the world after Christianity. As a monotheistic faith that originated in the Middle East, Islam holds many beliefs and practices in common with Judaism and Christianity. Judaism, Islam and Christianity are collectively known as "Abrahamic religions" because they trace their history to the covenant God made with Abraham in the Hebrew Bible. The Prophet Muhammad met both Jews and Christians during his lifetime, and Islam has come into frequent contact with both of its fellow monotheistic faiths throughout most of its history. As a brief guide of the similarities and differences of Islam, Judaism and Christianity, the following chart compares the statistics, origins, history and religious beliefs of these three great monotheistic faiths. Please note that, as with all charts of this kind, the information is oversimplified and should not be used as a sole resource." Here are a few major ones that these religions share similarities: - Belief about God. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are monotheistic religions, namely they believe that there is only one God. Jews and Muslims greatly stress the oneness and unity of God. The affirmation of the oneness of God by Christians is sometimes misunderstood, because Christians believe that the one God is triune (the Holy Trinity). However, this is not a denial of monotheism but an affirmation of the complexity of the Divine Being. All three religions believe that this God is the origin and source of all that exists. God cares about the entire creation and desires the well-being of all. God is just and has provided basic rules for our guidance so that we may be good and righteous, according to God's intention. God is also merciful; by means of God's grace we are given strength to be more like what we ought to be. - Children of Abraham: Understanding human beings The three religions believe that human beings are the highest creatures here on earth. We are the children of Abraham. God created us full of mystery, which means potential for continuous growth, both as a species and as individuals. We are capable of both good and evil. When we grow in goodness, righteousness, and love we become more like what God intended human goodness to be. When we abuse our freedom and do harm to other people, ourselves, and the environment it means that we are going against God's plans as we become evil-doers. Each person is capable, with God's help, to turn away from evil, repent, and do good. We owe God our devotion, glorification, and obedience."
