Go to court and tell the Judge what happened. Take photos of the construction site at about the same time as when you went through showing no signs in evidence. Sounds to me as if you have a good chance of having the ticket thrown out of court. : )

You were going 645 miles an hour? WOW! Seriously, Just because construction starts at 7, it is a construction zone 24 hours a day.

You may want to download a copy of the Rules of the Road for your state. There may be an overall law that requires that drivers slow to a certain speed in a construction zone whether is it posted or not. The state may use a "reasonable person" test, i.e. orange barrels, earthmoving equipment, big holes, etc. would make it obvious that there is construction. There is also the possibility that the officer may have ticketed you because he determined that you were driving too fast for the conditions. Was your speed reasonable and prudent for the conditions that were present?

Go to court and contest it. Even when a ticket is valid a lot of times the ticket will be thrown out. It's worth a shot.

If the circumstances you state are true, get your camera and take photos of the construction sites beginning location. You are going to need proof for court, other than just words. The time element may be a different story altogether. His watch may have been fast or yours slow. Courts are very strict on speeders in construction sites. this is for the protection of the workers. You may have a defense, but again you need proof.
