  • I think if you make less than a certain amount of money a year, she can do that. My mother tried to do the same but luckily, I earned too much for her to claim me. My mother is so cheap, she's trying to get free money wherever she can and it's sad. She actually got audited by the IRS a few times already for trying to claim me on past tax returns. To be sure though, ask an income tax preparer what the regulations are regarding you mother claiming you.
