    The concept of Tough Love originally had nothing to do with romantic relationships. It was a parenting technique. It evolved in to a family discipline. Even in a romantic relationship, being gay or lesbian would have no impact on it whatsoever. It is about family dynamics and honesty and discipline and difficult choices and consequences for actions.

    "Tough love" is about parenting, not a spousal relationship. A lesbian parent can perform "tough love" the same as any other.
