That's a rather broad question, but I'll give you my overview answer... The goals of the juvenile and adult justice systems are completely different. The goal of the juvenile system is rehabilitation. The goal of the adult system is to punish. The juvenile system is motivated largely by a general principle - to do what is in "the best interest" of the minor. The adult system is designed with society's best interest in mind. So - in general, rehabilitation, some degree of accountability and family unity are the main goals of the juvenile justice system.

Probation is when the court gives you a probation order to abide by when you have committed a crime and your living free in society. In the Probation order you will be given set instructions i.e. report weekly to your probation officer... and/or a curfew to be in the designated house listed on the probation order. Most probation orders are a way for the courts to keep tabs on you to ensure you are behaving and following through on any orders such as community service or again sticking to curfews because you have been found guilty of a crime. Probation orders fit into both Juvenile and Adult the same way.
