  • Nightmares are normal unless they are affecting your ability to work, socialize or function. If you are having nightmares more than just occasionally, then you might want to see your Doctor about them. If you are having several/week or they are leaving you exhausted or anxious, you really need to seek medical attention. Repetitive nightmares are usually caused by anxiety. Your Doctor may have you undergo physical, psychological and neurological testing to rule out illness. Keep a dream diary by your bedside. Your nightmares will provide clues as to why you are having them. I only watched a very small amount of the movie, Vacancy, but had nightmares about what I saw for days. It's really late now and I don't want to think about those images. My point is that nightmares are pretty normal, sometimes even if they are repeated over a span of days. It's just your mind's way of working out an issue that perhaps your conscious brain doesn't want to, or can't deal with.
  • wow, vsangel had some great answers... they probably are related to stress. I've only had a few nightmaares in my life and they were usually when I was going through something stressful. When I quit smoking, whew, now there were some nightmares, like wake up out of a deep sleep nightmares. So, try to think of any chemical or medicine you are taking as it definatley will affect your sleep.
