  • Being with my kids and grandkids is the best gift I get, any occasion. Practically speaking, the chemistry set with which I burned a hole in my sister's Barbie convertible, discolored the carpet, and classified countless items as "acid" or "base" was the most memorable. Most treasured: a Tom Seaver signed baseball.

  • The best birthday present I ever received was the time I had turned 19, it is the leagal drinking age in Canada. We were all working up at a mine sight in Faro Yukon. 120 people working up in the Pelly Mountain rage, where we were building a huge tailings pond I mean this thing was huge. But on my 19th birth day we all jumper in to the bus after work and much to my surprise there was a big cooler filled with beer on ice I mean there was like 100cans of beer on ice. I did not drink then, but every body started having a party, the superintendent was great he told every one that they were not going to start working until 10am the next day to sleep it off. The superintendant flew some lobster in alaskan king crab and grilled steaks and a keg of beer was sitting under ground in the permafrost keeping cool. The workers in camp had free beer steak night and I got a belt buckle and I was so happy I opened a beer and let it sit in front of me just so people would think I was drinking and not bug me to have a beer. I was in bed by 10pm and the others were still drinking well into the night there were allot of big heads in the morning. The best part of that time was that people some time later remembered the big 19 birthday party I had
  • For my last birthday, my gf threw me a surprise birthday party with my three closest guy friends. She rang the doorbell at exactly midnight and they all came in with streamers and kazoos. It was amazing because I was not expecting her or any of my friends. My 3 closest friends all live really far away from my house and far away from each other so the logistic to get all three of them together in the same place at night was difficult for her. She cooked for my friends and I a huge dinner and she bought my favorite cake, which was a strawberry cheesecake from a bakery in downtown. She spent weekly knitting me a blue scarf for me to wear since I love scarfs and I collect them. and she made me a photo album/memory book of all our pictures in it with quotes/drawings/decorations on every page. The album took her dozens of hours to put together. I hate being in pictures and she knows it but for months before my birthday, she kept taking my pictures when I wasn't paying attention and she also had all my friends take my pictures too - then she gave back all of the pics in the album.
