Why are alot of the tallest buildings in Europe churches, while alot of the tallest buildings in the US, financial institutions?

Because most of Europe's cities are so old. People didn't spend money on buildings unless they were churches. Now, people spend money to build bigger buildings to support large companies, not churches. Europe's cities were build so long ago that there are so few high-rise buildings in Europe, so the churches remain the largest buildings.

Good queation. People build skyscrapers downtown to consolodate space. I can't imagine a skyscraper church.
