  • Walk whatever distance you find comfortable, then check the pedometer. Continue doing the same daily. As you become more fit increase the distance traveled.
  • I have a group of a half dozen friends who all started walking as a way to lose weight after reading an article on it a few years ago. They all went out and bought pedometers at the same time. Their goal was 10k steps a day. I spoke with one of them a couple of weeks ago, and his daily target is still 10k steps a day like 5 years later.
  • Lots of companies are using pedometers lately to promote good health habits with their employees. Many of them are pushing for 10,000 steps a day. With your normal activity and a small walk everyday this should be achievable.
  • 14,000
  • I read that 10,000 steps was a daily goal and so I walk 10,000 each morning and then wear my pedometer all day to track the additional steps I walk. I too would like to walk to lose weight but for me 10,000 steps would not be enough steps.
