  • Apparently, they think people don't natively think in menus. I actually got this from a person @ MS. Look at office 2007, same sorta thing. I don't agree, but that's their thinking.
  • Not a clue, but to open it up, just press alt. It pops up at the top of the screen.
  • They supposedly found that people only use what they have icons for...<shrug>. It took some getting used to but I'm getting the hang of it.

  • The reason is that they have made a lot of studies and the result was the new design, which was proved much better by those studies. Of course, if you are used to the old design, you can still use it if you wish, but for new computer users, they are supposed to work only with the new design. I also know some users who had soe difficulties with the old design and who find the new design much more intuitive. As you seem to be a rather experienced user, it will be no problem for you to get back to the old design if you like. However, I would suggest that you adapt to the new one. It can be some work in the beginning, but it will make your life easier in the long range.
