  • The Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb called, "Little boy", on Hiroshima at about 8am, August the 6th. It was an airburst which leveled the city and killed about 140,000 people. A few days later, another bomb called, "Fat Man" was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. Even though it was a much more powerful bomb than the first, it ended up causing less damage because of the type of landscape that Nagasaki lay in and also due to its height at the time of detonation. If you ever get a chance to visit Hiroshima, it's well worth going to see the peace museum. There are some very powerful exhibits inside.
