  • Sure why not. Sorry but he's like the only PM that I can even remember for Canada. I didn't hear any good things about him and I think I heard some bad so I'll have to agree with you on that one.
  • I rather liked him.
  • I think he was one of the best. He tried and partially succeeded in reducing our reliance on the American economy so that we would have a more stable economic base; this has since been overturned by Conservative governments, once again reducing us to a very dependent economy. He and his governments gave us the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which has a lot more teeth, legally, than the previous Bill of Rights. He tried to govern more co-operatively with the provinces, as opposed to with the hostility that previous and subsequent PMs have acted. He caught a lot of flak from critics because he was changing the old rut we were in. He was a breath of fresh air.
  • ... no ... ... Kim Cambell was ... __________ ... I feel they made a minor mistake when we tried to honour Pierre Trudeau ... he put a lot of effort into developing the airport at Mirabel, yet the feds renamed the airport at at Dorval to "Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport" ... they should have renamed Mirabel instead ...
  • As a former Canadian prime minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau was a charismatic political giant who led his country through some of the most tumultuous events and passionate politics in the history of Canada. In my personal opinion he was excellent. Regards.
  • Brian Mulroney was.
  • Pierre Elliot Trudeau was nothing, but a charismatic politician who didn't have much knowledge when it came to governing. Fist of all, when all the real Canadians were off fighting in WW2 he was riding on his motorcycle protesting the war (He was a Nazi sympathizer). He gave english and french equal footing around the country, leading to biased language laws in Quebec (immigrants are forced into french schools, english not allowed to be prodominent language on any sign) Introduced one of the highest tax rates in the western world in order to pay for the useless govt programs that we still support today. Introduced capital gains tax. (Anyone with RRSP, RESP, Mutual Funds, Stocks, has to pay an incredible amount of tax because they decided that it weas in their best interest to save and invest their money) As you can see I could go on for page, but it is clear that he is easily the worst prime minister as is only known because of his charisma.
  • Absolutely not. Brian Mulroney wins that award. Left us with a horrible deficit. Invented the GST. Signed the free-trade agreement with the US. Crippled Canadian government for five years.
  • when we learn about pierre trudeau in school, it is all very positive. he is on most people's very good list
  • All else aside, no. In my opinion, he moved Canada into the 21st Century with this (damn) Metric Sytem. It's taken us Golden Agers years to cope with Celsius vs Fahrenheit and the difference between hot, cold & comfortable, but I think we finally got it right. As for gasoline and $1.089/L . . well sir, that seems awfully damned expensive . . or is it?? No, I do not believe Mr Trudeau was our worst ever P.M.
