It could be something as simple as something foreign in his eye, but it could also be serious like sign of a bacterial infection like conjunctivitis or worse. If he has any other symptoms like like running nose or sneezing, breathing hard, or crusty stuff on his paws, I'd get him to a vet. If you can afford it, it's worth seeing the vet so it's not something serious. Death can happen very quickly in rabbits. We had myxomyatosis go through our rabbits in the 70s and lost 15 out of 20 of them. It started with red eyes. But it is rare in the USA.
