Floridians: Can you pretty much see all the shuttle launches from everywhere in Florida? Just by going outside? Or does Earth curvature prevent it in some places?

No. I have heard of people in Lakeland being able to see it depending on which direction it is traveling. Other than that I am not sure how far away you can see it from.

I don't think you can see it directly from much further away than Orlando, or St Petersburg.

i have seen it from melbourne, about 40 or so miles away, but it wasn't much to look at. it the wind is right you can sort of hear it further away (like gainesville).

Sadly, down here, the clouds get in the way of a lot of stuff. I did get to see phoenix launch, last year, that was nice. Also, I do remember hearing the last re entry, it was quite loud.
