i think some people can relate to celebrities. i think some people realllllly go over board though. some people also might really admire the work the celebrity did when they were alive
-
We see them, more than our own families. Nowadays, they even tell us about their families and they become a part of our memory......forever.

I think it can be for many reasons. I think what Queen Grammy and Sillysammie said are very true reasons. I also think, particulary when someone is still relatively young, we grieve the potential that was lost.
-
i guess its because alot of people feel like they do know them, as they see them on tv and read about them alot..
-
I think that we don't only grieve for the celebrity (in the event it's an actor), but also for all of the characters ever played by that actor.
-
We read about them in magazines or watch their movies and fall in love with their characters.

I was pretty disturbed about the death of Phil Hartman even though I wasn't even really much of a fan. The way he died...something about it was just so tragic. Also, the death of the porn star Savannah. That was really horrible too.
-
because they are celebrities...and the amount of pain we show, the more sympathy we get...thats it...
-
because certain celebrities were a big part of a person's childhood. like me for example :) i used to record all of Aaliyah's music videos and learn all the dance moves. i still know the words to many of her songs. plus, i watched her grow from a tomboy to a girly girl lol.

Hm.. I don't think it can, at least not the death of a celebrity The death of an artist or actor, though, might do that, because we're feel we know them personally through their works. I would personally not shed a single tear if, say, Paris died, but if people like James Hetfield, Roger Waters, Marilyn Manson or Viggo Mortensen died, I would be very sad indeed, because of the memory of all their great work
