  • First of all you need to know your dog will be quarantined in Turkey for 6 months. That's expensive. When you return tho the US Customs will quarantine your dog. Usually 6 weeks. Also very expensive. Boarding the dog at home would be a whole lot cheaper. Bet both quarantines will cost you at least $10,000. Muslims, and Turkey is muslim. Aren't particularly fond of dogs. They regard them as filthy animals and to be kept only for herding, hunting purposes. So lap dogs have no purpose at all. Can't pay the quarantine they will euthanize the dog. And the dog needs recent shots and entry permits before hand. You should really leave the dog at home. Good luck finding any hotel that would allow your dog after the quarantine. I am not familiar with Lufthansa policy. But out of US airlines (except Delta) any pet flying as baggage goes into the hold that has neither temperature or pressure controls. Pets there are frequently injured or die.
  • That's not correct. All you need is a record of shots from a vet including the rabies shot and a pet passport. The pet should be older than 12 weeks. There is no quarantine and most of the hotels welcome pets. Please consult to your carrier for transportation details since each carrier have a different policy. I know that Turkish Airlines accept pets on board however most of the US carriers require them to be transported in the cargo compartment. By the way, Turks love dogs and never accept them as filthy.
