Besides the principal gods, like Zeus the Greek legends describe demigods or heroes who were of both divine and human descent. The demigods were of superhuman strength but were mortal (Hercules being the only one of them said to have been granted the privilege of attaining immortality). So the demigods bear a marked similarity to the Nephilim mentioned in the Genesis account, whereas the gods appear to find their counterpart in the ‘sons of God’ who forsook their heavenly position. Some legends mention violent giants living on the earth before the Flood. Comparably, the Bible indicates that before the Deluge disobedient angels materialized fleshly bodies, cohabited with women, and produced a race of giants called Nephilim. See Genesis 6:1-4; and 2 Peter 2:4, 5.

The Titans are the Elder Gods, an elder generation of immortal divine beings. They have a family tree and in some cases were the parents of the more familiar gods in some versions of those family trees. Nephilim are monsters and giants created by the union of fallen angel and human woman. They would therefore be more similar to Greek demigods who claim one god and one human parent, and the descendants of demigods. The Titans (and Olympian Gods) would be more likely in most cases to be fallen angels- hence the shapeshifting, superpowers, blood sacrifice, eating human and animal flesh, etc.

Nephilim were of Biblical point in Genesis. but yes Gilgamesh was a Nephilim and probably spread out from their. perhaps into other mythologies or their were nephilim in that part of the world at that time. but I would go with spreading stories... +2

This is a good discussion. It is nice to see enquiring minds, still about. I do not, of course, have the answer. My personal belief, for what it is worth, is that the Nephilim were the fallen angels who created the titans. Fallen, of course, is a relative term depending on one's religion. I could not swear to it but there is several accounts of them teaching things rather than just being brutal thugs. When I get a chance I will post some references. I do asume all realise that the Olympian Gods, were 1 God? Each God designed to represent an aspect of humanity? It is my view, and if you re-examine the greek mythology, with that in mind, I do believe some interesting suggestions will occur to you. That is my 2 pence. I look forward to reading more on this subject. kind regards

Thank you for that You are, however, refering to a single tradition, as I were. Is my memory failing me when consider them to be, a more or less, global phenomenon in those days?
