Yes, the way to handle that is don't listen to them,after a while they should leave you alone.

It really depends on who you ask and what the specific circumstances are. If you are really having serious issues with your in laws and they are unreasonable if/when you try to address said issues, and/or your spouse is not willing to acknowledge the problem and either work on it with you or seek help from a therapist to work through it, then in my opinion, no, it would not be breaking your vows to end a negative situation like that.
