It can do, but thats not always the case, especially with the fingernails - that's probably just stress. If you feel that you might be showing some signs of ocd/depression then it might be a good idea to get some proffesional help. You can also become more aware of your actions, and not let yourself fall into ptterns and routines of behaviour becasue they will 'help in some way'

Perfectionism is a form of OCD as is worrying. Basically -- it's when the thoughts start interfering with your life that you have a problem... I can't count the number of times I've walked back up the stairs to make sure the stove is off -- 98% of the time -- it's off. I obviously double check way more than I need to. Biting your fingernails isn't so bad really -- but if they start bleeding -- then there's a problem, and you have to figure out why you keep biting. Repetitive thoughts might be at the root of the problem. Same with humming -- do you hum because it makes you feel good, or do you hum because you've drifted off into repetitive thoughts -- many people hum because there's a song stuck in their head -- that's not OCD.

Oh my god! I hum constantly and SORT OF bite my fingernails (it's more like cleaning/ shaping them with my teeth). Does this mean that I have OCD/ Depression? My mom and brother find these habits EXTREMELY annoying and constantly mock me, saying that I'm not a four year old and that I need to cut it out or I'll end up a social leper. My dad hasn't even noticed! Anyways, they say it's a symptom of schizofrenia, but I've never seen any pink elephants, or even any leprachauns. Perhaps they're just jerks.

I don't have an answer but I have a co-worker that hums constantly, especially while walking and the tune isn't recognizable and she walks around going la la la. It drives me insane. Is this some kind of disorder?
