  • People do things because they think they will get something in return and maybe they dont go through with the promise because they realized they wont get anything out of doing the good deed me, however, i keep my promises they are really important to me
  • Sometimes it's just to be social and pleasant at the moment, like when folks say "we'll see you again soon"... Sometimes it's because they don't want to look bad in front of other people, and they don't think it would be good to tell you the truth out right out loud... Sometimes because they don't want to hurt your feelings... Sometimes they actually intend to follow through, but they get caught up in doing other things and living life... There's lots of reasons, but it's pretty rare for someone to make a promise for the purpose of actually hurting you... Hope this helps...! ;-)
  • They are childish and dont realize the work it actually is to carry out the promises they made.
  • My dear, if I had the answer to that, I could make a fortune selling it. Fact is, people make promises for many reasons, only one of which is that they intend to keep the promise. Some do it to get short term payback - 'Of course, I'll be with you forever, now let's get it on!!' Some do it because they have been pressured (by family, or whoever); some might even do it because they really intend, at that particular moment, to keep the promise. Then their commitment to it decreases as other things become more important to them - these are the ones who are most frustrating because other people depend on them. I don't know what triggered the question and it really doesn't matter. Some people are commitment-phobic; at least they are transparent, if somewhat annoying. The ones who promise and then fail to deliver are the ones who generate the most anger, because the other person is left without the partner in the enterprise that they were counting on. .
